Lovable drops Gemini 3.6 Flash on November 19

score days of notice: 44

Lovable deprecated google/gemini-3.6-flash for app AI features on October 6. It stops working there on November 19, 2026. Gemini 3.8 Flash replaces it.

What changed

On October 6 Lovable marked Gemini 3.6 Flash, google/gemini-3.6-flash, deprecated for its apps' AI features, saying Google is retiring it. Apps that use it keep working until November 19, 2026, then it stops. Lovable points to Gemini 3.8 Flash, google/gemini-3.8-flash, which it says accepts the same input at the same price. Google's own Gemini API deprecations page lists no shutdown date for gemini-3.6-flash as of today. GitHub Copilot deprecated the same model across all Copilot experiences on October 2, also pointing to Gemini 3.8 Flash.

Why it matters if you ship with an agent

If a Lovable app names the model, search the project for gemini-3.6-flash and change it to gemini-3.8-flash. Lovable's AI connector now lists every model a feature can use as a card, so open it and check what each feature actually runs on. Then test those features. Same price is Lovable's claim. Same answers is not.
